Insta Reefing Systems™Our Roll-A-Reef System™ is original with us. Velcro tabs secure the sail as it is rolled up. This method provides wrinkle free reefs at several levels. No need for multiple rigs for different conditions. Consider the savings!
The Roll-A-Reefing System™ consists of a minimum of four Velcro tabs. Two are at the tack and two at the clew locations. The bottom of the sail is rolled up to where the Velcro tabs can be joined. More reef points can be added as desired. We usually recommend one set. Users can attach the Velcro tabs we supply at their own discretion. Tabs with grommets at the tack and clew are used to secure the outhaul and cunningham. This provides significant savings while allowing sailing in conditions that would otherwise be impossible. Insta Reefing Systems™ allow designs to carry more sail area because excess sail can be reduced so efficiently. This improves the light air capabilities and avoids overpowering in heavy air. Roll-A-Reef System Operation Roll up the lower panels of the mainsail to the desired level. Use quality Velcro tabs to hold the roll. Remove the top most mast segment and reattach the headboard. Take up on the cunningham and attach the upper clew outhaul to the boom. The jib is not affected. Back to microSAIL! Innovations
