Radio Controlled Spinnakers

Doug Lord, founder of microSAIL! corporation spent over 5 years perfecting his patented system. It was inspired by Garry Hoyt of Newport, RI. It uses one channel to raise and lower the spinnaker and one channel to trim the sail.

Spinnaker System considerations:
Several microSAIL! models are designed for spinnaker systems.
A tube in a well is mounted forward of the head stay for hoisting and dousing both symmetrical and asymmetrical spinnakers. It keeps the inside of the hull dry.
We use Guyatt SmartWinches exclusively for our spinnakers.
- Symmetrical Spinnakers models require two SmartWinches
- Asymmetrical Spinnaker models require three SmartWinches

- Poles pop open when the set button is pushed on the transmitter.
- Poles fold alongside the hull when doused.
